BC Partners Raises over $1.4 Billion for Special Opportunities Fund III, Surpassing Target
BC Partners Credit, the private credit arm of BC Partners, a leading international investment firm, today announced the final close of its flagship Special Opportunities Fund III (“SOF III” or “the Fund”), securing over $1.4 billion in investable capital and surpassing its original target.
SOF III, which is c.20% larger than its predecessor fund SOF II, is BC Partners’ largest Special Opportunities Fund to date. The Fund benefited from strong backing from existing investors across the BC Partners platform, with a re-up rate of c.80%. SOF III also welcomed new capital from a diverse range of global institutional and private wealth investors across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
“We established our Credit platform with a clear focus on delivering innovative capital solutions across the middle market, which continues to present the most attractive credit opportunities as many traditional lenders have retreated. Since inception, our private credit platform has consistently differentiated itself through its agility, tailored structuring expertise, deep relationships and sourcing capabilities. Raising our largest Special Opportunities Fund to date, and exceeding our target, demonstrates our ability to deliver compelling investment opportunities by addressing the capital needs of a wide range of borrowers combined with a disciplined approach to underwriting” said Ted Goldthorpe, Head of BC Partners Credit.
The Fund will follow the same successful strategy as SOF II, seeking to deliver strong consistent all-weather returns, by providing capital solutions to entrepreneurs and sponsor-backed companies, asset-backed financing and liquidity solutions primarily across North America. The team leverages the full breadth of the BC Partners platforms’ deep sector expertise and operational resources to source and assess opportunities that fall outside traditional direct lending and private capital structures.
“We are grateful to all our investors, new and existing, for their trust, continued support, and confidence in our ability to find attractive and differentiated credit opportunities across market cycles. The successful close of SOF III during a period of sustained market uncertainty and amidst a challenging fundraising environment is a testament of our team’s ability to consistently deliver strong risk-adjusted returns” said Alexis Maskell, Global Head of Investor Relations.
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP acted as BC Partners' fund counsel.
